Last Night in Tonbridge

This is our last night to sleep in the boarding house . Today was a big day, in the morning ,we prepared for our performance for you ,parents and the principal of our school and Excel Academy, Miss Lo and Miss Hanna.

After lunch, we dressed up in school uniform and did the final rehearsal before you came. When the show started, our hearts were beating heavily as we were so nervous but it came out very well and we felt so happy for doing the show. Dinner came out great, the chicken is soft like it just melts in the mouth and the dessert , which was a brownie with a ice-cream on top. The ice-cream was cold but the brownie was warm so they matched great .

After that,  we went back to the boarding house, and had a little game of tag. Tomorrow we are going to CFC to have a little tour and leave England and back to Honk Kong.

Rehearsals and Independent Project Performances

Today we did our rehearsals and our independent projects about the UK in front of the camera. The rehearsals are for the performance tomorrow evening:

TOP SECRET: CONFIDENTIAL you'll find out sooner or later anyway.

For the independent project , we had to do a 2 min to present our research coming from all of our hard work over the past few days. We all did a very good job. We all have different topics that we chose ourselves, some did the British Museum, some did the Battle of Agincourt and some did the Leeds castle. Performing them was really horrible for some as we were all so nervous.

Afterwards we rehearsed yet again to make sure everything was in place for the presentation.

We are looking forward to present our farewell presentation to all of you. Tomorrow we are going to run through it once more and present it to you all.

We practiced every single bit of our presentation,we just need a little time to run through the whole presentation.
Here we did our final rehearsal of our independent project that we have to do today and the person in the picture is Ethan using a try-hard face and focusing on his project.

Independent Project Finishing Day

4th August.
Day 12
We have been here for 12 days already, but it doesn't feel like it.
Today, most of us finished our independent projects (projects we do about a specific topic) and practised speaking them.
We've also had a drama workshop for three hours. I think we are kind of ready for both plays on Sunday.
The teachers are a bit grumpy these days because they had to get up in the middle of the night and tell us to go to sleep (well, some people).
I hope everyone goes to sleep at exactly 10:10 pm because we have to sleep early every night if they don't. Even if we wanted to sleep early, we can't as we had played capture the flag tonight and our hair is still wet when we tried to go to sleep.
I should have expected that everyone will be too excited to sleep. I'm not criticising the teachers or anything, but I think activities like this should be done in the day 1

Trip to Imperial War Museum and Westminster

Today we woke up and went to the Imperial War Museum, a museum with tanks, aeroplanes and war machines from all over the world. It was horrible because some of them were wrecks and had turned into shrapnel and were machines that caused death but the collection was large and very interesting.

Afterwards we went to see Big Ben and the Palace of Westminster in Parliament Square where we took lots of photos. We then walked through St. James' Park to Buckingham Palace which was very beautiful and glorious. The flag was up so we knew that the Queen was in but we didn't see her!

Fortunately we went to the souvenir shop where Kelvin bought some key rings and Ho Ming got some magnets and some crystals with the scenery of London. Following this we went to the Horse Guards Parade where we saw the guards marching. The soldiers had specially made swords and were dressed very fancy, one screamed at them during an inspection and it was so serious.

When we got back we had dinner and did a quiz which was both hard and easy because it had history but we found the literature section simple because we knew the stories.

We thought it was the hardest day because we walked A LOT but we saw lots of special places that we had never seen before which was good.

A Day of Independent Projects and Music Workshop

This morning we ate breakfast, the same as every morning and then we had lessons. We did some really fun activities like working on a Romeo and Juliet drama piece by remembering the prologue and creating a summary. We found it interesting and exciting but line learning can be boring sometimes and we couldn't dance!

In the afternoon we had a music workshop where we did some warm up games like Who's It and Duck Duck Goose. Gary lost four times because he was too slow but we all enjoyed it. We had to learn the song 'Pure Imagination' from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory for the parents presentation. We were learning harmonies and we managed to do the song but it's hard to remember the lyrics. We will have to practice.

In the evening we worked on our independent projects for the parents presentation. Gary is doing a project on the British Museum and Douglas is doing Henry VIII. We found lots of information and we think we will do very well performing them as we have handed in our last draft.

Tomorrow we are going to the Imperial War Museum and Westminster and we're really excited to see the Royal Guards.

Trip to The Globe and St. Paul's

Hello we are Aiden and Clement. Today, we are going to do the blog for the excursion to the Globe Theatre and St. Paul's Cathedral.

In the morning we woke up at about 7:20 and we had breakfast at the dining hall. After a delicious breakfast we walked to Tonbridge train station and quick as a flash we arrived at Cannon Street station.

Firstly we went to the colossal and majestic Globe Theatre. After sightseeing around the theatre, we went to the Globe Educational Centre. The one hour workshop helped us a lot in understanding the tragedy Romeo and Juliet. We benefited a lot from that once in a lifetime experience of a drama workshop conducted by our teacher Dominique.

Later, we waled past the famous London Bridge which was also mentioned in the song 'London Bridge is Falling Down'.

Crossing the bridge, we arrived at the holy St. Paul's Cathedral. The cathedral was not a common sight as the magnificent structure was a shocking 100-130 metres tall! After a long walk up the stairs to the top of the building we finally got to see the absolutely stunning view like in the photos shown below. Climbing down the stairs , we started walking back to the train station leading back to the dormitory.

After dinner and Edwin's birthday party we had a speaking workshop with Miss Lisa about the tiger and it was quite hard because we need to memorise it for the presentation in front of all of the parents and teachers.

At 9:45 it was time to sleep and the end of the day.

Drama Workshop 2.0

Today we went to drama workshop with Miss Olivia and put the rest of the Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe play together. The activity was very tiring. we had to act out the play out many times. in the end we managed to speed it up to 14 minutes (meh) but we still have improvents to make but we have done much better. After dinner we played some party games - one of the games, sleeping lions ,was a game in which we had to pretend to be dead and we had to control our breathing *.

There were constantly people getting knocked out because it was very hard# but we agree it was a very good day because it was very meaningful and enjoyable as well . We both looking foward to having a great time on the trip to the Globe Theatre tomorrow.

Day 7 - Relaxing Day

This morning we took a train to Tunbridge Wells and it was very exciting because this is the first and last time we could really shop in England. When we arrived we went to Waterstone’s book store first and we all bought three books. In the store it was old fashioned because there was so much wood and it had rare books that we couldn’t find in Hong Kong.

After we walked across the street and went into Victoria Place for shopping. We bought a lot of souvenirs and stuff which was a lot cheaper than back home.Carroll and Matthew bought a bag and a pair of shoes which were amazing.

For lunch we had fish and chips but it was shame because Carroll couldn’t have it because he had a sore throat and it was very yummy.

In the afternoon we had a writing workshop which was a really good tool for us to enhance our creativity. As a treat the teachers allowed to play a football game which happened to be physical and involved lots of teamwork. After we watched the movie Matilda written by Roald Dahl which was definitely funny and to finish the teachers brought us noodles to remind us of home.
